Annual China Scholarship 2018/2019

The Ministry of Finance and the Public Service Scholarship and Assistance Unit is pleased to announce the publication of the 2018/2019 China Scholarship program for all qualified Jamaican students. Applications are invited from interested persons wishing to pursue studies leading to a Bachelor’s (4-7 years), Master’s (2-5 years), Doctoral (3-6 years) degree in recommended universities commencing September 2018.

Disciplines

The annual China Scholarship program is open to the following disciplines: Agriculture, Science, ICT Security and Risk Management, Technology, Engineering, Economics, Management, Education, Disaster Mitigation, Climate Change, Research and Development  

The 2018/2019 China Scholarship Eligibility

China Scholarship application candidates should be a Jamaican citizen, permanently residing in Jamaica for at least three (3) prior to application. High school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for undergraduate programs. Candidates should also be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master’s program; Master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs;

Supporting Documents Required:

  • Completed online application {see below} – Programme Type A/ Agency Number is
    3881
  • An official, sealed copy of study or research plan, (undergraduate –minimum of 200
    hundred words, postgraduate – minimum of 800 words)
  • Certified (by a Justice of the Peace) copies of academic certificates and transcripts of
    grades for all relevant academic programmes completed , Birth Certificate and Bio-data
    page of passport
  • Two (2) recommendation letters {Professor, Employer, Lecturer}
  • Foreigner Physical Examination Form
  • Police Record, Curriculum Vitae and 
  • Persons wishing to complete a second bachelor, masters or PhD. are ineligible

Obligation

Successful candidates of the annual China Scholarship will be required to sign a Loan Agreement for Education and Training prior to leaving Jamaica giving an undertaking that upon completion of studies, they will return and work in Jamaica for a specific period of time.

The Scholarships and Assistance Unit, Public Service Establishment Division, manages the GOJ Civil Service Training  Programme and acts as Point of Contact for the various donor Agencies and Countries offering technical assistance to the Government under bilateral and multilateral agreements. In this regard, this office is responsible for disseminating information on training and study opportunities as they become available. For all the courses, unless otherwise stated, application forms are available at this office.
