Cuba Bilateral Scholarship Program

The Cuba bilateral Scholarship Program or Cuba/Jamaica Bilateral Scholarship program is an annual scholarship award program that is managed by the Ministry of Finance’s Training and Scholarship Unit.

Cuba bilateral Scholarship program is available to Jamaican national students intending to study medical sciences and Nursing in the neighboring country of Cuba. The Cuba bilateral scholarship program forms a bilateral/exchange student program, where Cuban national students may also study at the top universities in Jamaica.

Cuba bilateral Scholarships are open to nine (9) lucky students annually!

The Government of Cuba invites applications from interested persons wishing to pursue Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies in Cuba under the bilateral Scholarship programme commencing September annually.

Cuba bilateral Scholarship Disciplines:

  • Undergraduate: Four (4) awards in Medicine and; One (1) award in Stomatology.
  • Postgraduate Studies: Two (2) awards in Internal Medicine and Hygiene Epidemiolog.
  • Master of Science Degree in Health Science: One (1) award in Medical Imaging and Radiation Physics

Cuba bilateral Scholarship Program Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates for undergraduate :

  • Be Jamaicans under 25 years old
  • Have at least two (2) “A” Levels or CAPE Units I & II in Biology, Chemistry
  • Have English at least at the CXC level
  • Submit Certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts
  • Submit a certified copy of Birth Certificate
  • Submit certificated copy of pages of national passport
    (Passport should not expire before April 30, 2020)
  • Submit one (1) passport size photograph

Candidates for Postgraduate:

  • Be Jamaicans under 35 years old
  • Have a Degree in General Medicine and be interested in Specializing in the indicated areas.
  • Submit Certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts
  • Submit a certified copy of Birth Certificate
  • Submit one (1) passport size photograph
  • Submit certificated copy of pages of national passport
    (Passport should not expire before April 30, 2020)

Obligations of the Cuba bilateral Scholarship winners:

  • Successful candidates will be required to :
  • Pay their airfare to and from Cuba
  • Supplement the monthly allowance
  • Sign a bond to return to work in Jamaica for at least five (5) years to contribute to economic and social development

Under the programme, Jamaican students may apply for opportunities to study in Cuba for a  B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science degree) in the following areas:

 The first year of the four-year course will be dedicated to the study of the Spanish language.

The scholarship covers

  • Study Materials and Medical Care

The programmes are advertised between March and April, each year, for studies commencing in September of the same year.
