THE FLORIDA UWI ALUMNI RONALD & MIRIAM WHITE SCHOLARSHIP
This Florida UWI Alumni scholarship was created to honor the outstanding contribution of Miriam White and the late Ronald White who was the president of the Florida Chapter of The University of the West Indies Alumni Association; and to provide tuition assistance for gifted needy full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of the West Indies.
Deadline: March 31, 2020.
Number of Awards: One (1)
Value of the Award: US$1,000
Tenure: One (1) year with renewal for up to 2 years. Renewal is not automatic, and the scholarship holder is expected to reapply.
Eligibility: The award is available to a full-time student who is:
- Registered in the Faculty of Social Sciences;
- Pursuing a 3-year undergraduate degree;
- GPA Criteria ( ≥ 3.0);
- Financial needs – Preference will be given to students who have not secured other bursaries or scholarships that will help to cover tuition cost;
- Record of community involvement and volunteerism including more than membership in high school alumni association.

- An essay outlining the applicant’s educational and professional goals.
- Three (3) current letters of recommendation (one character and the others academic).
- A certified university transcript that indicates the student is in good standing or a high school transcript along with acceptance letter from the university indicating that the applicant is newly admitted.
- Certified copy of birth certificate
- Picture (Head-shot) of applicant.
Payment to awardee:
- Funds will be disbursed to the successful applicant through the university controller/financial aid office.
- After notification of scholarship, the successful applicant will submit their school identification number and the University’s official mailing address to the Florida Chapter of the University of the West Indies Alumni Association.
NOTE
- The award may not be held jointly with any other scholarship or bursary where together the value exceeds the cost of tuition.

THE FLORIDA UWI ALUMNI: MARGARET BARRETT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The late Margaret Barrett dedicated a large part of her life doing voluntary work that helped individuals in meaningful ways. Her efforts assisted individuals who sought to better themselves through education, with many of these individuals attending the University of the West Indies.

The Margaret Barrett Memorial Scholarship was created by the Florida Chapter of the University of the West Indies to honor Margaret Barrett’s service and dedication to education. The Florida Chapter of the University of the West Indies Alumni Association (UWIAAFL) views this scholarship as a meaningful way to honor someone that made an outstanding contribution to the University of the West Indies (UWI) community.
Number of Awards: One (1);
Value of the Award: US$1,000;

Eligibility: The award is available to a full-time student who also satisfy the follow criteria:
- Academic performance that reflects an overall grade point average of B (3.0) or higher;
- Record of community involvement including more than membership in high school alumni association;
- Participation in specific activities.
- Full-time student who is completing an undergraduate degree at the University of the West Indies (Any Campus);
- Student residing in a Caribbean nation served by the University of the West Indies.

This Florida UWI Alumni scholarship was created by Donat and Cecille Grant to provide tuition assistance for gifted needy full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree in the faculty of Natural Sciences or Engineering on any campus at the University of the West Indies.
Deadline: March 31, 2020;
Number of Awards: One (1)
Value of the Award: US$1,000
Tenure: One (1) year with renewal for up to 2 years. Renewal is not automatic, and the scholarship holder is expected to reapply.
Eligibility:
- Full time matriculated student
- From a “single parent” household
- Natural Science or Engineering Faculty
- Rank: 2nd year or higher ranked student, preferably a graduate of Excelsior High School;
- GPA Criteria (≥ 3.0);
