Descriptions of University College of the Caribbean scholarships, micro loans and work-study programs are found on this page. Scholarships are open to students in any field of study offered by the University College of the Caribbean LOCAL programs only. All available scholarships have criteria for recipient applicants. Criteria are restricted as defined. Receipt of any award listed in this section is subject to the availability of funds.

Application Forms

All interested students must have received an acceptance letter from the UCC Registrar Office before an application for scholarship can be submitted. The University College of the Caribbean Scholarships application should be submitted DIRECTLY to 34 Old Hope Road, Kingston 5. Application forms are available at 34 Old Hope Road, Kingston 5, or any of our outreach centers. Continuing UCC students wishing to be considered for the University College of the Caribbean scholarships listed on this page must have a copy of their most recent transcript to accompany the application form. Applicants MUST disclose current income sources.

Deadlines and Notification

For all types of financial assistance, priority consideration will be given to applicants whose application has been received and who have been admitted to UCC by June 30th. LATE applications will be accepted and considered for the second round of awards offered in January of each year. The University College of the Caribbean scholarships offered in January are limited, so every attempt should be made to submit applications in a timely manner.

Applicants and parents of applicants are encouraged to estimate their previous year income data, if necessary. Applicants who file on time will be notified of award prior to the beginning of Fall registration.

Students’ Expected Earnings

All students who apply for financial assistance are expected to work and to save a major portion of their earnings to apply against the coming academic year’s expenses, or to secure adequate financing on their own.

Satisfactory Academic Progress

All students receiving financial assistance are expected to establish and maintain satisfactory academic performance. For continued eligibility students must meet all of the following: A minimum cumulative GPA (under Graduates) of 3.0; each student must complete 85% of all credit hours attempted and must meet graduation requirements in no more than the average length of their program.

Students may submit a written appeal to the Office of the Dean of Academic Affairs for reinstatement of their aid if exceptional conditions exist that prevent them from meeting the requirements.

Requirement for Proof of High School Graduation

Students must provide proof of high school graduation before aid may be disbursed, even though this may not be a requirement for admission. Proof should be attached to application form.

Applicants of the University College of the Caribbean Scholarships – First Generation must be a first generation family member to seek higher education, demonstrate financial need and high academic performance. Applicant should provide a written essay of the importance of attaining higher education and the difference it will make in their life.

The Geraldine Adams’ Hope
Priority will given to an Applicant who is or has been a resident of a Girls’ home in any of the parishes that UCC has a campus center; be a high school graduate meeting normal matriculation requirements for any Certificate or diploma/Degree programme, and must have recommendation letters from the Home, as well as, her high school. Applicant must provide a written essay describing her purpose for continuing education and plans for future development. If no such candidate applies, young women facing extreme circumstances would be considered.

An applicant whose education has been interrupted by temporary difficulties and who finds it necessary to resume studies due to the changing demands in their lives. Applicant must demonstrate a financial need for assistance with their educational expenses to improve their marketable skills. To qualify applicants must be individuals in PATH families, pursuing a Bachelor Degree programme at an accredited tertiary institution (Universities and Colleges). Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. The student must be in the second to the fourth year of study. The individual must have received a PATH benefit while in high school.

The Gift of Education
Friends and Family are able to purchase a voucher in order to assist an individual with the gift of education. Vouchers could be purchased for any amount and will be used towards the student’s tuition.
The gift certificate is not redeemable for cash, but is transferrable and valid for a period of two years from the date of issuance. It can only be used to offset expenses associated with your student account.
