Background – Advance Program
The goal of the Advance Program is that more young people, especially those from disadvantaged populations, obtain new or better employment. In order to achieve this goal, Advance is seeking, in one of its two outputs, to recruit and select disadvantaged youth who have completed their high school education and are highly motivated to continue their studies, but who face many obstacles in their access to higher education.

Advance Scholarship Program Overview
In Jamaica, the Advance Program will work with select institutions to offer scholarships to disadvantaged youth who have completed their high school education and are highly motivated to continue to technical tertiary education in one of the selected industries, Agri-business, Creative Industries, and Wellness Tourism. The selected institutions are:

  • Vocational Training Development Institute (VTDI) – Applications OPEN
  • Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica (CCCJ) – Not Yet Open
  • University of Technology (UTECH) – Not Yet Open

Eligibility for Scholarship and Candidate Profile

Applicants to the advance scholarship program at the Vocational Training Development Institute (VTDI) in the Associate Degree in Entertainment and Events Management must fulfill the following requirements to be qualified for this prestigious scholarship opportunity. 

  • Candidates must be citizens of Jamaica
  • Candidates must be between the ages of 17-29 years
  • Show academic achievement
    • 5 CSEC or GCE subjects, including English
    • 1-2 HEART/NTA Level II plus 3-4 CSEC subjects including English
    • Mature student: 23 years or older with 5+ years relevant professional experience
  • Candidates must have verifiable financial needs / economically disadvantaged
  • Candidates must show records/proof of extra-curricular activities
  • Additionally, these candidates must be able to demonstrate leadership ability 

How to Apply for the FHI360 Advance Program Scholarship at the Vocational Training Development Institute (VTDI)

There are two ways that you can apply for the FHI360 Advance Program Scholarship at the Vocational Training Development Institute (VTDI) for the new academic year, as a reminder, candidates must be an applicant to or is currently enrolled in the Associate Degree in Entertainment and Events Management:

Online Application 
All candidates MUST successfully complete this simple online form . With the completed application form, the applicant must attach a certified copy/photo of all required documents in the upload section provided and submit your completed application before the deadline. This scholarship stop accepting applications on January 11, 2018.

Print and Drop-off Application 
The second application option is by printing a copy of the application form, Complete/fill-out the application form in its entirety with the relevant information. Thirdly, attach certified copies of all required documents as stipulated on the application form. Finally, hand-in your completed application form and all additional documents to the Vocational Training Development Institute (VTDI).
