Pharmaceutical Scholarships for International Students in UK, 2017
King’s College London & London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine are offering four Janssen Pharmaceutical Scholarships for international students. Scholarships are awarded for pursuing MSc Global Mental Health at King’s College London.
The Pharmaceutical Scholarships course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to initiate, develop and oversee mental health programmes and/or policies in low-resource settings, as well as to conduct and critically evaluate research on global mental health.
King’s College London (informally King’s or KCL) is a public research university located in London, United Kingdom, and a founding constituent college of the federal University of London. To study at King’s, it is essential that students can communicate effectively in English and are able to do so in an academic environment.
Course Level: Pharmaceutical Scholarships are available for pursuing the master programme.
Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded to study MSc Global Mental Health at King’s College London.
Scholarship Award: London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is offering up to four Janssen Pharmaceutical Scholarships to students accepted onto the 2017-18 MSc Global Mental Health course. Each scholarship will cover full tuition fees, a stipend (living allowance) of GBP 15,757.00 and an allowance of GBP 500.00 for MSc project expenses.

Pharmaceutical Scholarships Eligibility:
- Applicants must hold an offer of admission to the MSc Global Mental Health commencing in 2017-18. To apply please follow the application instructions on the King’s College London course website.
- A strong preference will be given to applicants who are nationals of, and have been ordinarily resident in, low- and middle-income countries (as defined by the World Bank) for the last three years. Consideration will also be given to exceptional applicants who have extensive work or volunteer experience in low- and middle-income countries.
Nationality: Students of all nationalities can apply for these Pharmaceutical Scholarships . But strong preference will be given to applicants who are nationals of and have been ordinarily resident in low- and middle-income countries (as defined by the World Bank) for the last three years.
College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirement: At least an upper second-class honours degree from a UK university, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard, or a registerable qualification in medicine, appropriate to the programme. A background in a mental health-related field is desirable but not essential.
English Language Requirement: Applicants from non-English speaking countries (as specified by the Home Office – UKVI) must meet the minimum English Language Requirements if shortlisted for this funding. Applicants should provide proof of English language proficiency as soon as possible, and at the very latest at the time they are advised that they have been short-listed for this funding, by submitting a copy of their IELTS results to the Scholarships Team at LSHTM.
How to Apply: To apply for this funding, applicants should submit
- The Pharmaceutical Scholarships application for study for the MSc Global Mental Health course through the King’s College London online application portal, and
- A Scholarship Application, via the School’s Scholarship Application portal, indicating that you are applying for the Janssen Pharmaceutical Scholarships. As part of this application, students should submit a Janssen Pharmaceutica Scholarship Supplementary Questions sheet.
