For over 30 years the VM Group has given, through the VMBS Scholarships programme offers a Head Start to over 1600 students at all educational levels because we believe that a truly independent society is an educated one. We consider it an honour to be able to reward our best and brightest youth Members for their progressive achievements. We specialise in making the educational goals of our student savers a reality by offering scholarships, bursaries and grants to PEP and tertiary level students.
To be VM Foundation Scholar means that you have exhibited scholastic achievement but require financial support on your journey towards gaining a sound education. As part of its commitment to education, the VM Foundation is pleased to provide six tiers of scholarships and bursaries to VM Members that have demonstrated achievement and verifiable community involvement.
The Junior Plan “Head-Start” Scholarship and PEP Bursary
This scholarship and bursary are for students who have completed PEP in the year of application and will be starting school. The top performing student in each county is selected for the PEP “Head-Start” Scholarship valued at $50,000.00 and top performing students across all parishes will be chosen for a one-time PEP Bursary valued at $50,000.00. Secondary Level – Future Plan ‘Head-Start’ Scholarship
This scholarship is for students who will be starting tertiary education in the year of application at a local tertiary institution. The scholarship has a maximum 4-year tenure and is awarded to 3 students. Each scholarship has a ceiling of two hundred thousand ($200,000.00) dollars, which is awarded each year. All applicants must have an active VMBS account.

Tertiary Level – VM Master Plan ‘Head-Start’ Scholarship
This scholarship is a one-time scholarship offered to a student who will be starting the final year of an undergraduate or master’s degree programme. The scholarship is valued at two hundred thousand ($200,000.00) dollars. All applicants must have an active VMBS account.

The STEM “Head-Start’ Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student who will be starting tertiary education in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics. One applicant will be awarded each year for a maximum of four (4) years, or whichever shorter at three hundred thousand ($300,000.00) dollars. All applicants must have an active VMBS account.

We are committed to empowering individuals within our communities, locally and in the diaspora, with programmes, delivered through a dedicated team of volunteers and partners focused on improving quality of life.
Health and Family
The Foundation believes that a healthy family is the basis for healthy individuals, stable children and adults that are ultimately financially independent. We are dedicated to supporting the fabric of the Jamaican society in this area through parenting support, the promotion of healthy lifestyles and supporting national programmes aimed at increased access to health care.
Leadership and Nation-Building
The core focus of the VM Foundation is to improve the quality of life of Jamaicans. To achieve this, it is necessary to engage leaders from the government, civic and private sectors to build the nation. We are committed to contributing to national leadership initiatives, that promote and foster community and individual leadership development.
Youth Empowerment
The VM Foundation supports youth development by providing VMBS Foundation scholarship opportunities that will empower our young people to make bold moves towards living a successful life. Our work will combine educational opportunities, entrepreneurship training, financial literacy and sport to engender wholesome living.
