Cave Hill UWI Campus Scholarships

Scholarship applications are normally considered by the Postgraduate Scholarship Committee in June each year.  Most scholarships are intended for Research Students however the UWI (Cave Hill) Co-Operative Credit Union, SOL scholarships and the De La Rue scholarship provide support for a few students in Taught Masters programmes.

Applications for scholarships are to be submitted in triplicate to the School for Graduate Studies and Research, unless otherwise stated in the specific regulations, and must be accompanied by 2 referee reports

Prospective, newly admitted and continuing students are eligible to apply, however prospective students should note that scholarships can only be awarded after they accept any offer of admission made.

Unless otherwise stated in the regulations for a specific Scholarship, the deadline for all applications is May 30 of each year.  Note that late applications will not be processed.

Cave Hill Campus Scholarships


The Barbados Association of Retired Persons (BARP) Postgraduate Scholarship

Eligibility: 

Open to Barbadian graduate students undertaking studies full-time researching any issue dealing with aging.

Value: BDS$10,000

Number of awards: One (1)


The De La Rue Scholarship

Eligibility:

Open to nationals of Barbados who are pursuing or have been accepted into a full-time postgraduate programme at the M.Sc. level in Economics or Finance at the UWI, Cave Hill Campus or who are in the final year of an MPhil or PhD programme relating to Economics or Finance at the UWI, Cave Hill Campus.

Value: BDS$35,000

The SOL Postgraduate Scholarships

Eligibility: 

Open to nationals from the OECS and Caribbean region who are either full-time or part-time registered students undertaking postgraduate programmes in the Faculties of Science & Technology and Social Sciences. 

Value: BDS$30,000.00 Masters programme / BDS$25,000.00 M.Phill Ph.D programme

The U.W.I (Cave Hill) Co-operative Credit Union Limited Postgraduate Scholarship

Eligibility:

Open to full time students in Taught Masters programmes who have been, or whose parents/guardians have been, a member of the U.W.I. (Cave Hill) Co-operative Credit Union for a period of at least two (2) years.

Value: BDS$10,000

Number of awards: One (1)


The UWI Postgraduate Fee Waiver Scholarship

Duration: 

Two (2) years with the possibility of extension for such additional periods until completion of the MPhil or Ph.D. programme, depending on the student.

Eligibility:

Open to nationals of the contributing territories of the University of the West Indies who have been accepted into the current academic year to pursue full – time or part- time studies in any MPhil or Ph.D. Programme at The UWI, Cave Hill Campus. Applicants for this Scholarship should normally have, as a minimum, a Lower Second Class Honours Degree.

Value: Waiver of Tuition Fees and Economic Costs

Criteria: The Scholarship holder is required to contribute up to thirteen hours (13) each semester towards the work of the Cave Hill Campus, using their area of academic expertise.

Number awards: Ten (10)


The UWI Postgraduate Sports Scholarship

Eligibility:

pened to nationals of the Commonwealth Caribbean who have gained admission, or qualify for admission, into any full-time taught masters programme in any discipline at the UWI, Cave Hill Campus.

Number of awards: Two (2)


UWI Postgraduate (Elsa Goveia) Scholarship

Duration: Two (2) years – MPhil students, 3 years – PhD students

Eligibility:

Open to graduates of the University of the West Indies or the University of Guyana or another Caribbean University pursuing full-time studies in M.Phil or Ph.D. Caribbean History. Tuition Fees and Economic Costs are waived for the duration of the Scholarship.

Value: BDS$22,000

Number of awards: One (1)


UWI Postgraduate (Rex Nettleford) Scholarship

Duration: Two (2) years – MPhil students, 3 years – PhD students

Eligibility: 

Open to graduates of the University of the West Indies or other approved Universities pursuing full-time M. Phil or Ph.D. programmes in any area.

Value: BDS$22,000

Number of awards: Two (2)
