2017 Cuba Scholarship in Medicine
The Government of Cuba invites applications from interested persons wishing to pursue Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree or Masters Degree in Cuba commencing September 2017. A total of nine (9) Cuba scholarships are available for six years of medical school and one year of Spanish immersion courses at a total approximate value of US$80,000. Scholarship deadline is Friday, March 31 at 3:00PM.
The Ministry of Finance and Public Service has announced the publication of the annual Cuba Medical Scholarship program to Jamaican medical students like you. The Government of Cuba through the MOF’s Scholarship, Training and assistance Unit invites applications from interested persons undergraduate and post graduate studies in Cuba under the Cuba bilateral scholarship program commencing in September of this year.
Despite the easing of economic pressures from the North. The Caribbean island of Cuba is still reeling from the near-six-decade-old US embargo. The northern Caribbean country has been able to invest heavily in the education of its people, while consistently granting humanitarian and development assistance to countries around the world.
Study Disciplines for the Cuba Medical scholarship awards
Applicants will be able to pursue studies in the following areas with four (5) undergraduate Cuba scholarships, two (2) postgraduate and one (1) masters level scholarship award as listed below.
- Undergraduate: Four (4) awards in Medicine and; One (1) award in Stomatology.
- Postgraduate Studies: Two (2) awards in Internal Medicine and Hygiene Epidemiology
- Master of Science Degree in Health Science: One (1) award in Medical Imaging and Radiation Physics

Eligibility
Undergraduate Cuba Medical scholarship candidates must:
- Be Jamaicans under 25 years old
- Have at least two (2) “A” Levels or CAPE Units I & II in Biology, Chemistry
- Have English at least at the CXC level
- Submit Certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts
- Submit a certified copy of Birth Certificate
- Submit certificated copy of pages of national passport (Passport should not expire before April 30, 2021)
- Submit one (1) passport size photograph
Postgraduate Cuba scholarships medical programme candidates also must:
- Be Jamaicans under 35 years old
- Have a Degree in General Medicine and be interested in Specializing in the indicated areas.
- Submit Certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts
- Submit a certified copy of Birth Certificate
- Submit certificated copy of pages of national passport (Passport should not expire before April 30, 2021)
- Submit one (1) passport size photograph

Cuba Scholarships Medical Programme Obligations
Successful candidates will be required to pay their airfare to and from Cuba, supplement the monthly allowance and bonding policy to return to work in Jamaica for at least five (5) years to contribute to economic and social development.
