Chinese Scholarships for Jamaican Students

Brief Description

The Scholarships and Assistance Unit of the Ministry of Finance, Jamaica is inviting applications for the annual Chinese Scholarships from interested persons wishing to pursue studies leading to a Bachelor’s (4-7 years), Master’s (2-5 years) or Doctoral (3-6 years) degree in recommended Universities in China commencing September annually.

The Scholarships and Assistance Unit, Public Service Establishment Division, manages the GOJ Civil Service Training  Programme and acts as Point of Contact for the various donor Agencies and Countries offering technical assistance to the Government under bilateral and multilateral agreements.

In this regard, this office is responsible for disseminating information on training and study opportunities as they become available. For all the courses, unless otherwise stated, application forms are available at this office.

Eligibility for the Chinese Scholarships

Candidates should:
  • Be a Jamaican citizen, and be in good health (present medical certificate-see below).
  • Be a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for undergraduate programs.
  • Be a bachelors degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for masters program.
  • Be a masters degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs.
  • Complete online application {see below}- Agency Number is – 3881.
  • Submit certified copy of highest diploma in the field related to the chosen field of study.
  • Submit an official, sealed copy of study or research plan.
  • Submit certified copy of academic certificates.
  • Submit one {1} passport sized photograph.
  • Have a valid passport and US visa.
  • Submit a curriculum vitae.

Obligation 

Successful candidates will be required to sign a bond to return to work in Jamaica for at least five (5) years immediately upon completion of the course of study in order to apply enhanced knowledge and skills towards accelerated economic and social development.
