The KOICA Scholarship Summary
The KOICA Scholarship Program for master’s degrees is designed by the nation of Korea to nurture key leaders in developing countries who can contribute to the socio-economic development of their home countries.
Target Countries are selected by KOICA among the DAC List of ODA Recipients. The list of target countries is subject to change annually to the policies of the Korean government or KOICA – Jamaica is a qualified country!

Before introducing the specific details regarding the KOICA Scholarships, we need to know what KOICA stands for, and it stands for Korea International Cooperation Agency. Currently, KOICA is offering Korean scholarships in the form of Master’s Degree scholarships in Public Management and Public Sector Reforms for applicants in developing countries.
If you have already gone through university and received your bachelor’s degree, you are eligible for this master’s scholarship; however, if you are looking for a PhD, you are looking at the wrong scholarship. This KOICA scholarship is only for applicants looking for Master’s Degrees in Public Management and Public Sector Reforms!

Benefits of the Master’s Scholarships
The purpose of this scholarship is to receive the applicants from developing countries, to change the applicants from students to leaders, and to provide the needed skill sets to contribute to the socio-economic developments of their home countries.
In order to fulfill its mission, KOICA offers great scholarship benefits to the scholarship recipients, and yes, this is a full-ride scholarship so don’t be too amazed!

- Insurance During Stay in Korea
*The monthly stipend bears the expenses for meals, books, and supplies, and the monthly stipend stays the same for each month. If the scholarship recipient leaves Korea for any reason, the scholarship amount will be deducted, so please stay in Korea during your whole scholarship period!
**The mandatory fees include the expenses needed to enter Korea, and it also includes visa fee, alien registration card fee, and other miscellaneous fees. Also, after the completion of the scholarship, you will also receive money to leave Korea as well.
Even though you can’t really prepare for everything that might come your way, the KOICA Scholarships cover most of your fees that you need to study abroad in Korea. Also, if you want to buy some souvenirs to bring it back home, you probably should prepare by saving your money.

The KOICA Scholarship Program overview
Program Title: Master’s Degree Program in Public Management and Public Sector Reforms
Qualified University: Seoul National University (SNU), Graduate School of Public Administration (GSPA),
Number of Participants: twenty (20) Government Officials

Qualifications for the 2020 KOICA Scholarships
Prospective applicants must meet all of the following conditions. (1) Citizenship: Be a citizen of the Scholarship Program target country. (2) Government Nomination: Be officially nominated by their governments. -Be a government employee. With a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of study
Exception – Applicants with an ‘international development NGO’ background may apply for the program with two letter of recommendations: Your government office; and -Korean Embassy, world widely known NGO, an UN-associated organizations, or the KOICA Organization within your region.
Prefered AGE: (Preferably) Be under age 40 as of February 1, 2020.
Health: Be in good health, both physically and mentally.
Applicants of the annual KOICA Master’s Scholarship Programme with disabilities, but in good mental and physical health, are eligible to apply. Those with severe illness are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply.

Level of Education: Have a completed Bachelor Degree or an equivalent to college / university level Educational background. Some program have specific qualifications in terms of level of education, and refer to Program Information of each program.
English Proficiency: Have a good command of both spoken and written English in order to take classes conducted entirely in English and to be able to write academic reports and theses in English.
The successful applicant must not be a person who has withdrawn from KOICA’s scholarship program. Person belonging to the institution in which candidates submitted false documents and returned to his/her country arbitrarily in the middle of KOICA Scholarship program cannot apply.
Applicants must have not participated in the KOICA scholarship program or any of the Korean Government’s Scholarship Program before. And other qualifications from university you are going to apply (refer to the Program Information).
Preference: Descendants of Korean War Veterans will be given preference. Proof of descendants of Korean War document must be presented in application package.

Important Notes for All Korean Scholarship Applicants:
All forms should be typed in English and all the supporting documents should be in English. Documents in any other language should be accompanied by a notarized English translation.
Original documents should be submitted. (If it is unavailable, the originating institution must authorize copies before they are submitted.)
If any of the submitted materials contain false information, admission will be rescinded. Applicants whose forms and supporting documents are incomplete or unsatisfactory will be disqualified from the admission process.
Applicants should take full responsibility for any disadvantage due to the mistakes or omissions on the application.
