The Ministry of Education Sponsored General Teachers’ Scholarship Programme

Every year the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information offers over 440 teacher’s scholarship awards to new and enrolled local student teachers in Jamaica’s leading Teacher;’s Colleges. These eligible teachers colleges are the Mico University College, Churches Teachers College, Bethlehem Moravian College, Catholic College of Mandeville, Church Teachers’ College, Mico University College, Moneague College, Sam Sharpe Teacher’s College, Shortwood Teacher College, Saint Joseph’s Teacher College, Montego Bay Community’ College.

This specific scholarship progamme, however, is ONLY limited to student teachers of the University of Technology, Jamaica and the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.

The following Teacher’s scholarship is an annual prestigious scholarship programme that is offered by the Ministry of Education (MOE) Jamaica. This Teachers’ education funding is one of the most sort after financial aid opportunities for new and returning teachers in training at the university of Technology and the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.

Course: First Degree in Arts, Education, Economics or Accounts

Tenure: 2-4 years

Tenable: At the University of the West Indies Mona Campus , University of Technology.

Value: Tuition Fee

Eligibility: Candidates should be: (a) Jamaican Nationals, (b) Desirous of pursuing a first degree in Arts, Education, Economics or Accounts.

Conditions Of Award

All scholarships are tenable at the University of the West Indies, Mona or University of Technology.
All applicants should have been accepted at one of the above mentioned institution.
Successful candidates will be bonded to teach in a government owned educational institution for three (3) years.
The scholarship award is valid for the academic year immediately following the offer of the award and cannot be deferred for any reason.

WHEN TO APPLY: JUNE 1 – 30, 2023

The above are scholarships and awards that will be administered by the Tertiary Unit of the Ministry of Education for the 2023/24 academic year.
