The JSIF scholarships are now open to qualified applicants from the listed parish communities below. The JSIF Scholarships are being offered through the Poverty Reduction Program (PRP), which invites applications for their Annual Tertiary Scholarships Program.

The JSIF has a disbursement budget of J$100Million. All JSIF scholarships recipients will receive a maximum of J$350,000 each. Please note that the actual disbursements of the JSIF scholarships amount are at the discretion of the PRP Committee.

The JSIF Scholarships are open to eligible tertiary students attending government assisted tertiary institutions (including teachers’ colleges). Please note that the PRP funding does not include programmes in Law, Dentistry, Medicine or Nursing nor does it include costs associated with room and board.

For this year, the JSIF Scholarships are open to ALL students from first to final year at any local university, college or trade school. The PRP and JSIF scholarship program funding does not include programmes in Law, Dentistry, medicine or Nursing nor the cost associated with room and board.

Completed application forms should be submitted at the Jamaica Social Investment Fund Office at The Dorchester, 11 Oxford Road (entrance on Norwood Ave), Kingston 5 or the SDC Office Albion Community Centre, 1 Albion Road, Montego Bay.

JSIF Eligible University/Institutions

The government assisted tertiary institutions that are eligible for this scholarship programme are Teachers’ colleges, University of the West Indies, University of Technology, Edna Manley College for the Visual and Performing Arts, and Mico University College.

In order to qualify, you must:

  1. Be between the ages of 17 and 25
  2. Be a student of a government assisted tertiary institution.
  3. Be a resident of one of the listed PRP communities (see list of communities online)
  4. Be in financial need
  5. Be actively involved in community work through community-based organization/s and/or other voluntary programmes
  6. Have confirmed acceptance in an accredited government assisted Tertiary Institution ( including teacher’s college)
  7. Be in good academic standing
  8. Not be in arrears for your previous academic year(s) tuition or any other fees

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF THE JSIF SCHOLARSHIPS WILL BE 4:00P.M JULY 15

Application forms are available HERE or at the JSIF Office and or website http://www.jsif.org and at selected SDC Office in St. James, Clarendon, St. Catherine, Kingston and St. Andrew.

Please note that unfortunately, NOT all parishes are eligible for this JSIF tertiary scholarship opportunity. Eligible Communities are listed as follows:
