Dr. Keith Peart Memorial Special Needs Bursary Eligibility
Dr. Keith Peart Memorial Special Needs Bursary is available to registered students at the University of the West Indies who are Jamaican Nationals with disabilities who are:
- pursuing studies leading to a first degree in any faculty;
- entering level two of their studies;
- registered with the Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities (JCPD) and the Office for Special Students Services (OSSS).
Criteria
The Dr. Keith Peart Memorial Special Needs Bursary is an annual opportunity and will be awarded through the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus Office of Student Financing. The shortlisted special needs applicants will be based on several factors including and not limited to students with:
- high academic achievement;
- verifiable financial need;
- involvement in co-curricular activities.
Method of Selection
Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from the Office of Special Student Services, Lions Club of Mona and Family of Dr. Keith Peart. Additionally, applicants must be able to show evidence of involvement in co-curricular activities.
The Office of Student Financing (OSF) exists to assist registered full-time undergraduate students of the Mona Campus. The Office administers a number of scholarships, bursaries and grants as well as other forms of financial assistance.
Many scholarships and bursaries are awarded on the basis of academic performance however, there are numerous awards that are reserved for students who are pursuing a particular field of study, demonstrate financial need, leadership qualities and are actively involved in co-curricular activities. The OSF also seeks to provide general financial assistance to students who demonstrate financial need especially as it relates to their daily maintenance cost.
