St Mary students receive Sydney Phillips scholarships
Several St Mary students received scholarships courtesy of the Sydney Phillips Scholarship Trust Fund (SAPSTF) recently.
The SAPSTF was established in 1994, and since its inception, Jamaica Producers Group – a company synonymous with the parish of St Mary – has been a major donor and supporter of the fund, along with members of the Phillips family, past scholarship recipients, and other kind donors.
The SAPSTF was established by the family of the late Sydney Phillips, a prominent lawyer and co-founder of the Robinson, Phillips & Whitehorne law firm in St Mary, to assist with the education of bright, need-based students in that parish.
During its 23 years in existence, the SAPSTF has granted scholarships and bursaries in excess of $12,000,000 to 57 of
St Mary’s brightest students pursuing a variety of disciplines at the University of the West Indies, the University of Technology, the Northern Caribbean University, Mico University, and as of this year, the Caribbean Maritime Institute.
