Wining Jamaican Scholarships is easy as 1-2-3! Are you a Jamaican or has being here living (domicile) for the last five (5) years? then Jamaican scholarships are for you to use. They are free! Jamaica, like any other country provide thousands of Jamaican scholarships sources that provides annual scholarships valued in excess of JM$6.5 billion. Some scholarships for college are merit-based. You earn them by meeting or exceeding certain standards and criteria set by the scholarship-donor.

Merit-based scholarships might be awarded based on academic achievement or on a combination of academics and a special talent, trait, or interest. Other scholarships are based on financial need or volunteerism.

Many Jamaican scholarships are geared toward particular groups of people; for instance, there are scholarships for female students, Jamaican scholarships for boys or high school seniors or juniors. And some are available because of where you or your parent work, attended school or because you come from a certain background (for instance, there are scholarships for Seprod employees).

Scholarships variety is unlimited. Like in more advance scholarship society like that of the USA or Europe, scholarships are awarded to students in niches as specific, small or as simple as Science students of Seaforth High School class of 2012. If you think about it, how many potential applicants would be in this scholarship criterion? Not much! That’s how limited a scholarship award can be.

With the above in mind, during your scholarship search, create a profile (if you haven’t done so yet) of:

  • Your skills and interest,
  • Extracurricular activities, whether sports or volunteerism,
  • Field of study,
  • Qualification level – High school (CXC or CSEC), under graduate or graduate,
  • Your alma mater – look for scholarships targeted to your school,
  • Geographical studies – where do you plan to study? Jamaica or overseas),
  • Community service efforts
  • Employer and industry
  • Your parents employer and their associations, and
  • Your community clubs such as Police Youth Club, or Kiwanis club membership based awards.

The main idea that we at ScholarshipJamaica.com is trying to share with you is that whatever you are involve with as a student in your community or on campus, there is a chance that you can find a scholarship that targets that area of interest.

This is your official permission to go out there and become a scholarship expert and complete your studies right here in Jamaica without a student loan or with minimum student loan debt (sorry SLB). We did it and you can also!
