The LIAJA Retired Members Scholarship is available to Jamaican national students enrolled in any undergraduate programme related to Library and Information Studies. This scholarship opportunity comes from the Library and Information Association of Jamaica for students at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.
Criteria
The LIAJA Retired Members Grant Scholarship is an annual scholarship opportunity and will be awarded through the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus Office of Student Financing. In addition to academic performance, the award will be based on:
- financial need;
- involvement in co-curricular and/or community activities;
- demonstrated interest in the profession.
Method of Selection
The successful candidate will be selected by a committee comprising representation from the Retired Members’ Section of the Library and Information Association of Jamaica and The University of the West Indies.
Additionally, Letter justifying the need for assistance to be attached to the application.
The Office of Student Financing (OSF) exists to assist registered full-time undergraduate students of the Mona Campus. The Office administers a number of scholarships, bursaries and grants as well as other forms of financial assistance.
Many scholarships and bursaries are awarded on the basis of academic performance however, there are numerous awards that are reserved for students who are pursuing a particular field of study, demonstrate financial need, leadership qualities and are actively involved in co-curricular activities. The OSF also seeks to provide general financial assistance to students who demonstrate financial need especially as it relates to their daily maintenance cost.
